Hello from Memory lane, and Storm Empty Hello from Memory lane, and Storm

Geez.... where to start. A couple of years back i wanted to try and get hold of Felix to talk about the best time of my life, when a guitarist friend of mine, Pat Chupko, and I (drums) moved our band from Cleveland, Ohio down to Miami in early 1970; the name of our band was "Storm." We opened for Mountain twice at Miami University that same year. Felix was still an Atlantic Atco rep looking for talent, and told us that if we could come up with at least half an album in the can he'd come back in 6 weeks and sign us up. We did half an album at Criteria Studios. One week later our singer, Bobby Robbins, turned up dead in the Florida Everglades because of a drug deal gone bad. So, we were >< that close to fulfilling our dream, and never got that close again. It was always amazing the notes and riffs Leslie could play, seeing how, at least back then, it seemed like his pinkie finger was as large as most peoples thumbs.

So glad to hear Leslie is still around and kicking, but sorry to hear about losing his leg.... my grandmother lost both of hers the same way, to diabetes, so I'm kinda familiar with what he's going through. Up until recently, our old guitarist, Pat, was working at East Village Music as a guitar technician. He's still alive and, supposedly, still "has it" as far as playing goes, but it seems that living in New York has turned him into a liberal, and he won't share with me any of the bunch of Storm memorabilia he has. Damn shame, as he still has the original of the demo album we made. Well, I guess that's it for now. Leslie... keep on keeping on, old friend. The memories of those two shows will always be with me.

Wow, what a wonderful story, dude.
Shame about Bobby Robbins hooking up with the "wrong people" -- shame for him, obviously, but also a pity for the band being on the cusp of something that could have developed into something very big indeed.
Hey, if Felix considered you guys worth making a demo then that is high approval for sure.

I've read elsewhere that "Storm" played support to -- and jammed with -- the very best of the time ............ Canned Heat, Jethro Tull, Jefferson Airplane etc. Big respect, fella ! :
Damn, would have loved to have heard you guys.

Keep on rockin' dude. Smile
